I participate in more social activities. Of course, there are some wonderful people in my life who make networking fun and trust me so much that I am touched. This relieves social anxiety. I do think blogging is probably the biggest factor. Honestly, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Humor me? Some of my raw, honest blog posts would never have Latest Mailing Database been brought to life if I had to speak up. I'm getting better, but I'm not finding it easy to express my emotions. So there is freedom in communicating through my chosen method. I can tell my story without having to say it out loud. I don't have to make eye contact, scan people's expressions to see if they're bored, and worry that no one will understand my accent. Writing it down allows me to express myself in an easier way, which has to be a great start. Plus, when I blog, I'm usually talking about something I'm passionate about, know a little bit about, or have a strong opinion about.
This is really helpful. That means follow-up questions aren't scary, and I can back up what I'm saying with knowledge or anecdotes. For someone with social anxiety, or at least for me, being asked or presented with questions or conversations that you don't know is pretty scary and scary. In this case, the phrase hope the ground will open up and swallow me up really comes into play. My blog family blogging community is also helpful.
